Dynabook is back with a bang in the region, with the launch of what it calls is the “world’s lightest” 13.3-inch notebook powered by Intel’s 10th Gen processors. This laptop weighs just 870-gms and is also MIL-STD 810G tested. That means the laptop has been military-grade tested for drops, temperature, humidity, and dustproof.
The X30L-G comes clad in a very slim chassis that has been constructed using magnesium alloy. As you open its lid, you come face to face with a Sharp non-reflective 13.3-inch IGZO Full HD LCD screen, which offers a brightness of 470 nits.
While this laptop series offers a wide range of processor options, our review unit came with a 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10710U processor running at a clock speed of 1.10-GHz.
You also get 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive for all your storage requirements. You also get Intel UHD Graphics 620, while the laptop runs Windows 10 Professional 64-bit operating system.
The laptop also comes with a 4-cell 42Whr Lithium-Ion Polymer battery that, on paper, offers 14.5 hours of battery life. You also get a Quick Charge function that offers 4 hours of battery on just a 30-minute charge.
In terms of connectivity, you get two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1 port, one HDMI-out, one RJ-45, onr Headphone/Microphone Combo, and one microSD Card Reader.
The keyboard on this laptop is that of the Backlit LED Tile variety, while the Clickpad offers multi-gesture support.
There is also a built-in HD web camera with a dual microphone, while select models also come with an IR camera for Windows Hello face sign-in.
Additional security features include Trusted Platform Module (TPM) v2.0, Fingerprint Reader (Synaptics SecurePad), and an optional smart card reader.
The Dynabook Portégé X30L-G was able to offer very good performance, even though it comes packed in a slim form factor. It was able to handle almost every job we assigned during our review period.
The keyboard is something that takes some getting used to, while the touchpad seemed small to us. In addition, it lacks the Thunderbolt 3 port, which is sort of a norm in similarly priced laptops.
For pricing that starts at AED 6900, the Dynabook Portégé X30L-Gb seems a bit overpriced. However, it makes up for the heavier price tag by offering a featherlight form factor, performance-based specs, and very good security features.
You also get a brilliant display, good battery life, and a strong collection of connectivity options. The Dynabook Portégé X30L-G thus comes across as highly recommended for a demanding road warrior.
